I am using auto populate to populate a field base on another changing. See image.
My question is if the field is over wirtten with the same informaton has it changed? I am thinking it has not. Then that would explain why my auto populate has not work.
There's a field attribute that can override this, I'll post back when I find it.
The attribute Doug-Robinson mentioned is AutoFillSameValue. I think you have to set that attribute on the field that triggers the auto-fill.
is this on the General or Database attributes? Do i leave it Null or set it to True?
General attribute, leave it set with whatever value (null, empty, etc) shows up when you first add it in. Not all general attributes have values
Doesn't appear to work for me. Just so I am clear, if I put the field value in a variable and then run an update business object and put the variable into the field it should cause the autopopulate to fire. Is that correct?
Just fill it in like so on the field that triggers the auto-fill:
(Screenshot is from German version, the position of the controls is identical, though.)
Do we have to restart any services for this to take affect?
Probably not; a definition reload in your client may be necessary.
If this is in the portal, ensure you make the update in the portal default view as well.
Ensure also that your validated field (which you're auto-populating from) has the 'Selection triggers fill' box checked under the valdiation section
I can not use the selection Triggers fill because I am auto populating a date with the current time. Anything else I can set to make sure this happens?
Thanks Doug-Robinson. That worked. Once I added 'Selection triggers fill' it worked
