Bailey Gannett works on the Cherwell communications team. She's a recent graduate from the University of Colorado Boulder, specializing in communications and public relations. Interning for companies like DaVita Kidney Care and Ball Corporation has allowed her to gain experience in internal and external communications for corporations.
According to Pew Research Center, 2019 is the first year in which U.S. women earn 57 percent of bachelor’s degrees, surpassing the number of college-educated men in the country. Meanwhile, women still face many unique challenges in the workplace tracked by industry watchers including Leanin and McKinsey & Company, who report annually on improvements toward gender equality. In an effort to illuminate companies where women thrive, workplace monitoring platform Comparably ranked CEOs of companies who were rated highest by women employees surveyed.
So, what do Jeff Bezos, Satya Nadella, Marillyn Hewson, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sam Gilliland all have in common? They all rank among the top Chief Executive Officers by women, as reported in a recent article in USA Today.
That’s right, we are proud to share that our CEO, Sam Gilliland, placed Number 26 on Comparably’s 2019 list of “Best CEOs for Women Workers.” Among the others joining Sam and Cherwell in the large company size category (more than 500 employees), are CEOs from Deloitte, Amazon, Facebook, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Costco, T-Mobile, and more.
“Sam’s transparent and progressive leadership style has greatly influenced our company culture; he speaks and seeks the truth,” said Ann Boyd, Vice President of Corporate Communications. “Sam recognizes—and truly appreciates—the value of diverse input to make better decisions and, ultimately, to help us create a better outcomes for customers.”
Comparably compiled data from female employees among a pool of more than 50,000 U.S. companies to discover which CEOs who ranked highest in their advocacy for and employment of women in the workplace.
For the Quarter Two Comparably workplace awards, it should also be noted that we ranked among one of the top large organizations for Best Professional Development opportunities.
Cherwell is proud to be landing alongside the big players in the tech space, and will continue to develop our diversity initiatives to keep that momentum rolling. Until the tech industry is both diverse and completely inclusive for all, there is always room for improvement!
