A Single Source of Truth for Your Entire IT Infrastructure
IT organizations need more than a simple IT asset repository to make good decisions, particularly in light of increasing virtualization and mobility. Cherwell's Configuration Management Database (CMDB) software enables IT teams to accurately visualize how their applications, servers, databases, and networking, and storage devices interact, helping them more effectively manage their infrastructures.
This visual, single-source-of truth provides the means to not only improve impact and risk assessment of IT changes, but also prioritize incidents by downstream impact and improve root-cause analysis for effective Problem Management.
ITIL Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM)
ITIL® Service Asset and Configuration Management aims to maintain accurate information about Configuration Items (CIs) required to deliver an IT service, along with their relationships. This information is maintained in one or more CMDBs and an is essential for effective Incident, Problem, Change, and Request Management, as well as other processes. Cherwell meets 100 percent of the PinkVERIFY 2011 requirements for SACM.
Accurate Information for Better Decisions
Populate and maintain current configuration information in the Cherwell CMDB using your existing inventory and discovery tools (such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager or Solarwinds Sonar Wizard), or leverage the tightly integrated capabilities of Cherwell® Asset Management to collect hardware and software inventory with any custom parameters you specify. For organizations looking to automate the process of identifying CIs and their relationships, leverage the service dependency mapping power offered by our alliance partnerships.
Configuration Item Management and Workflows
Like other objects in the Cherwell platform, CI’s can be individually managed, including across a life cycle workflow. Cherwell's codeless architecture makes it easy to configure and build forms, searches, automations, dashboards, and reports for managing CIs. Tiered alerts can run One-Step automations based on CI state changes or when value thresholds are crossed. CI forms provide important at-a-glance information about CIs, as well as one click, dynamic display of parent-child relationships.
"Cherwell enables us to manage our systems to provide the best possible patient care. With strong support operations, we provide better patient care, secure in knowing that we're adhering to regulatory requirements like HIPAA and managing our end devices better through asset tracking and management." - Bill Weyrick, Director, Information Systems User Support at Dartmouth-Hitchcock
